Bad Shoes by Stagger Lee (Split Lip Records)
The debut single from Dublin this outfit embodies,
as their name suggests, the spirit of Robert Johnson’s
bargain with the devil, coupled with vocals in the
direct lineage of P J Harvey out of Patti Smith. A
sizzling live experience, they boast a rock solid
boy/girl rhythm section that can actually play, an
inventive blues-based guitarist in Grum, and a blankly
cute singer in Donna. Deserving of serious attention.
