Superfuzz Bigmuff / The Lucky Ones by Mudhoney (Sub Pop)
Also getting the 20th Anniversary treatment, also accompanied by an extra live CD, is this legendary collection of Mudhoney’s early singles and EPs, christened after the titular effects pedals so beloved by the band. Often painted as the passed-over men of grunge, while they never went stellar in the same way as Nirvana, Pearl Jam or Soundgarden subsequently did, they were around before them. On the evidence of this record, maybe original was best. As if to prove the point, their latest album is released simultaneously, a simple and unadorned work that is a brave, full-circle, step backwards into their nascent primitivism.
